AN INTRODUCTION TO AMSTERDAM
Weather, exchange rates, holidays, history, all the information you'll ever need on the fabulous country of Amsterdam.
The historical city of Amsterdam was built around major waterways and is home to over 160 canals. It is a beautiful, cultural, and bussling metropolis that is a very popular destination not only for 'smokers' and stags but also for couples, business entrepeneurs, cyclists and those looking for a peaceful Venice-type break.
Amsterdam is noted for it's museums which include
the Stedelijk Museum, the Rembrandt House Museum,
Rijksmuseum, and not forgetting Amsterdam's famous
symphony orchestra, the 'Concertgebouworkest'.
THE USE, SALE, POSSESSION AND CULTIVATION OF CANNABIS / MARIJUANA IS ILLEGAL IN MOST PARTS OF THE WORLD
Amsterdam enjoys a moderate climate, with winter temperatures being mild and generally above freezing. During summertime the weather is generally warm, temperatures during July and August can top 72°F. Although rainy days are common, Amsterdam averages less than 760 mm per year. Cloudy and damp days are frequent particularly in the cooler months October through March.

Marijuana: The Legalities
In the city of Amsterdam many coffeeshops sell cannabis. Although this practise is not completely legal it is tolerated when small quantities of cannabis (up to 5 grams) are involved. Whilst visiting Amsterdam you may enjoy a marijuana cigarette in a public cafe without fear of prosecution.
Prostitution: The Legalities
Amsterdam is very famous for its popular red-light district 'De Wallen'. Window prostitution is perfectly legal in the Netherlands in designated places; the Amsterdam red-light district is in the centre of the city and is clearly marked on maps.
